CEIS provides Christian Education in ACT Government schools at the request of students' parents
CEIS works in partnership with the ACT Education and Training Directorate and local volunteers to provide Christian Religious Education sessions in accordance with the legislation. With an intent to add to holistic development and well-being for young Australians, CEIS aligns with Australian educational outcomes. We provide a service that is relevant, reliable, within policy and of best practice.
Currently, CEIS is linked with 46 schools in Canberra, coordinating and cooperating with individual school calendars and priorities to provide engaging and interactive sessions for students that complement their learning.
Has a parent requested CEIS in your school? Get in touch with the CEIS coordinator, we’re always happy to chat.
To help get you started, check out the Religious Education Fact Sheet, which outlines the procedures and responsibilities of principals regarding organising and implementing religious education in ACT government schools.

Building Valuable Partnerships
The Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians notes that education equips young people with knowledge, understanding, skills and values, and that schools play a vital role in promoting the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, moral, spiritual and aesthetic development and well-being of young Australians (MCEETYA, 2008, p.4).
CEIS sessions support these outcomes by further promoting young Australians’ social, moral, spiritual, and ethical development by exploring basic Christian beliefs and values in a way complementary to the Australian Curriculum.
